Bio
I am Million Adane Daba, an Ethiopian researcher currently serving as the Director of Genetic Resource Access and Benefit-Sharing Research at the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute. My passion lies at the intersection of biodiversity and community rights; I believe that Africa’s natural wealth should directly benefit the local communities who have protected these resources for generations.
Through my work in community-related research, my career is shifting from the laboratory toward national policy and leadership. I was drawn to the SELA Fellowship and the Introductory Pathway because I want to bridge the gap between my technical background and real-world impact. I am eager to gain the advocacy and project management skills that SELA offers, allowing me to transform scientific insights into sustainable solutions. Joining a network of like-minded African leaders is exactly what I need to lead with clarity and purpose, ensuring a lasting impact on our continent.
