Community Manager

Role Overview

You will be the heartbeat of the SELA Fellowship community. You’ll build engagement, foster belonging, and ensure our fellows feel supported, connected, and inspired to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Community Building: Moderate and grow our WhatsApp, Discord, and LinkedIn communities

Engagement: Plan weekly check-ins, peer learning sessions, and virtual events

Support: Serve as the first point of contact for fellows. Respond promptly to all questions, concerns and share resources as needed

Collaboration: Work with the Program, social media management and Research teams to amplify opportunities and announcements

Feedback: Collect community insights and report monthly on community health + needs

Eligibility

18 - 35 years old African (Female and marginalized people are encouraged to apply)

Ability to work independently, be pro-active and take ownership with minimal supervision

Experience managing online communities or leading student/youth groups is an advantage

Excellent communication and people skills

Empathetic, responsive, and organized

Familiarity with WhatsApp, Google Workspace, and social media tools

Passion for youth development and leadership

Commitment Requirement

No concurrent volunteer commitments in similar roles. Applicants must be able to dedicate their full attention and 10 hours weekly to this role to ensure excellent delivery
