Sudden Angelo Mwaungulu

Bio

I am an Environmental Science and Technology graduate from Malawi, currently working as a Central Control Room Officer in the cement industry, where I oversee complex industrial processes and safety-critical operations. My passion, however, lies in water security and environmental sustainability rooted in my final-year research on groundwater fluoride contamination: A case of Mlare area, Karonga District, Malawi, which exposed me to the real, everyday consequences of water quality challenges facing rural communities.

That early research shaped my long-term goal: to build expertise in environmental technology and management so I can contribute meaningfully to climate resilience and safe water access across Africa. I am interested in pursuing postgraduate studies in this field to deepen that impact.

What drew me to SELA and the Introductory Pathway is its focus on nurturing young African leaders equipped to tackle sustainability challenges head-on. I see this fellowship as a stepping stone toward turning my technical background into real leadership for climate and environmental action.
